The NFHS Network, a digital network devoted to the coverage of high school sports and activities (www.NFHSnetwork.com), provides students, parents and their extended families with unparalleled access to the events they don’t want to miss. During its inaugural year, the NFHS Network attracted more than 3 million unique viewers from across the United States to watch live coverage of 28,000 events produced by its member states and schools.
With coverage of 27 different boys and girls sports and activities, the NFHS Network is the largest destination for high school sports broadcasts in the country and generated more than 10 million video views this year. The top 25 most watched events included a wide spectrum of the high school experience including: competitive cheerleading, football, spirit & dance, chorus, individual and team wrestling, football and basketball bracket release shows, and track & field.
“Nearly 50 million Americans identify themselves as high school sports fans. The NFHS Network strives to serve and support student-athletes and performers by making their key high school moments accessible to their families, friends and fans,” said Robert Rothberg, NFHS Network President. “The NFHS Network will continue to provide the most extensive high school sports coverage in the nation on a variety of connected devices. Over 40% of views this year were on mobile devices and we will ensure that fans have access to the events whenever they want and wherever they are. The recently released apps for iOS and Android devices were well received and we will continue to add support for additional devices in the future.”
Students produced 20,000 events as part of the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program, which provides schools with a turnkey solution for producing, streaming, and monetizing their events. In addition to offering valuable learning opportunities for students, participating schools also receive a share of subscription revenues from the events they produce. The NFHS Network returned over $100,000 in revenue to high schools during the past year.
