The California Interscholastic Federation’s Sac-Joaquin Section (CIF-SJS) and PlayOn! Sports (PlayOn) jointly announce the launch of the Sac-Joaquin Section Network, a partnership providing multi-platform distribution of California high school sports content. Unprecedented postseason coverage of Sac-Joaquin Section high school sports, beginning in fall 2012, will be made available to fans in a variety of live and on-demand formats across web and mobile devices.
“The Sac-Joaquin Section is thrilled to partner with PlayOn! Sports to enhance coverage of our high school sports and athletes,” said Sac-Joaquin Section Commissioner Pete Saco. “We feel our Section has an exciting athletic environment and it’s outstanding that now people from across the state, all over the country or even on another continent can witness it live. Whether you’re family, or friends, or alumni, or maybe you’re just a fan, you’ll be able to watch your high school’s championship event.”
The new Internet video portal for the Sac-Joaquin Section Network, www.cifsacjoaquin.tv, will host all events produced through the partnership. Many events will be streamed live and all events will be archived and made available on demand. There will be no charge for fans to view content.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Sac-Joaquin Section of the CIF to create a network of high school sports content in California that celebrates California’s student athletes,” said Tim Eichorst, President of PlayOn! Sports. “We are building a library of content that will allow students, families, and communities access to their school’s sports and activities programs in a way they haven’t had before.”
The network portals will commence this fall with coverage of football, girls volleyball and boys soccer, among others. Additional coverage throughout the year will feature a wide range of both boys and girls sports in California.
Another component of the partnership is the opportunity for all California high schools to take advantage of PlayOn’s proprietary technology platform to produce regular season sports and school activities through the School Broadcast Program. This content, typically produced by students with the help of a teacher adviser, will be featured on individually branded school portals.
“Schools can leverage the PlayOn platform to create content, provide educational opportunities for students, generate exposure for student athletes, and provide unique digital advertising opportunities for sponsors,” Eichorst said. “We are rolling this program out immediately and hope to have an initial group of schools producing and broadcasting their activities during this fall sports season.”
is part of the California Interscholastic Federation, which is the governing body for high school sports throughout California. The SJS is one of 10 sections representing varying geographic regions throughout the state: Central, Central Coast, Los Angeles City, North Coast, Northern, Oakland, Sac-Joaquin, San Diego, San Francisco and Southern. CIF Sac-Joaquin Section oversees high school athletics for 196 schools and 225,000 students. Its geographic boundaries stretch across Central California; from Yosemite National Park in the south to Grass Valley in the North, from Napa to the west and the Nevada state line to the east. The SJS is the second largest of California’s 10 sections.
