The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and PlayOn! Sports (PlayOn) jointly announce the launch of the MHSAA Network, a partnership providing multi-platform distribution of Mississippi high school sports content. Unprecedented postseason coverage of all MHSAA high school level sports and activities, beginning in fall 2011, will be made available to fans in a variety of live and on-demand formats across television, web and mobile devices.
"The MHSAA is excited to partner with PlayOn! Sports to showcase high school sports and activities in Mississippi,” said MHSAA Executive Director, Don Hinton. “These productions will allow our communities greater access to high school events as well as provide the athletes and their families lasting memories of their high school experience. We are certain our partnership with PlayOn! Sports will help take the MHSAA to the next level.”
The new Internet video portal for the MHSAA Network, MissHSAA.tv, will host all events produced through the partnership. Many events will be streamed live, and all events will be archived and made available on demand. There will be no charge for fans to view content.
“We are building a library of content that will allow students, families, and communities access to their school’s sports and activities programs,” said David Rudolph, CEO of PlayOn! Sports. “This partnership will showcase the talent and excitement of high school sports in Mississippi in a manner that was not possible before.”
The MHSAA Network will commence this fall with coverage of the state championships in girls volleyball, boys and girls swimming, and football. Additional coverage throughout the year will feature a wide range of both boys and girls sports and activities in Mississippi.
Another component of the MHSAA Network is the opportunity for member schools to utilize PlayOn’s proprietary software and platform for coverage of their regular season sports and school activities. This content will be featured on the MissHSAA.tv portal. Schools will be able to create links on their websites to directly access their own branded school page on the MHSAA video portal.
“Schools can leverage the PlayOn platform to create content, provide educational opportunities for students, generate exposure for student-athletes, and provide unique advertising opportunities for sponsors,” Rudolph said. “We are rolling this program out immediately and plan to have an initial group of schools producing and broadcasting their activities during this fall sports season.”
